As you can see, the drone took off from the roof of the delivery truck from UPS, delivered a residential package autonomously and returned to the roof of the vehicle, all while the delivery driver continued on his way. As Mark Wallace, UPS’s global vice president of engineering and sustainability, says, this drone trial “opens the door to the future of deliveries.” This technological breakthrough will make it possible in particular to improve the efficiency of freight transport and to reduce emissions from its network.
